Yes. I coach little kids' soccer, and spent a week in New Orleans cleaning up after Katrina. Not that I'm bragging, mind you, my efforts amounted to bringing a bandaid to a trainwreck.
If sweet Diane's cooking breakfast, I'll get the dishes.

I've volunteered for a lot of things ranging from teaching young children how to ride to working with animals at the humane society. I like to give back the world whenever I can and actually have time.

I am very active with animal rescue and transport. We rescue animals from high kill shelters that are on "death row" if you will. We then take the animals to the vet, work on any issues that they may have (i.e. food agression, housebreaking, socialization, etc.) and we try to rehome them. We work across the US and Canada and transport these sweet animals to their new homes (free of charge)through the generousity of many volunteers in the network.
Please don't confuse us with the rescues who charge hundreds of dollars for animals. We simply ask for a donation, whatever it might be. But we do however check to make sure the animal will be safe, in a good home, and the family can take on responsibility of being a pet owner.
Nothing worse, I think, is for an animal to be loved and cherished for a period of time and then wind up in a shelter, disoriented, alone and scared.
Enjoy you day! And volunteerism in any capacity, for whatever group, is not only civic-minded, but also extremely rewarding!

I do charity runs. There are many biker organizations that does more for charity and the community than your local church prudes.
I volunteered to serve in the Air Force for 8 yrs. I did social services in Washington State for 2 yrs.
I always want to give back. It helps me feel that my presence on earth is meaningful and has extra value.

Every year on the Saturday before Christmas, I volunteer somewhere. Last year it was to serve at the soup kitchen, the year before at the Salvation army unloading trucks, and the year before that at the food bank.
