Mobility X2300 quick specs:
Pixel shaders = 4
Vertex shaders = 2
Core Clock = 450Mhz
Memory Clock/ bus = 400Mhz/ 128 bit
DirectX = 9.0c
3D Mark 05 = 1570 marks
It is better than any Intel integrated graphics and quite comparable to Geforce Go 7300. The x2300's lean architecture makes it only good for light gaming. For better gaming performance, look for a GPU with at least 8 pixel shaders like the Geforce Go 7600 or Mobility Radeon X700.

Your laptop has a good specification. With an Intel® Core™ Duo Processor T 2450 2.0 GHz, 1GB DDR2 667MHz Memory, and an ATI Mobility Radeon X2300 (512MB HyperMemory) graphics card, you should be able to play the latest games but perhaps not with anti-aliasing on.
My laptop has an Intel® Core™ Duo Processor T 2300 1.66 GHz, 2GB DDR2 533MHz Memory, and an ATI Mobility Radeon X1400 (512MB HyperMemory) and I can play Tomb Raider Anniversary with most effects on at 1280 x 800 resolution. But if I have anti-aliasing on, the frame rate during play drops heavily. Also, Next Generation graphics (if you are familiar with this feature in Tomb Raider) is out of the question.
But comparing your specification to mine, your laptop should be able to perform much better than mine during gaming. I don't think the 1GB RAM will make much of a difference, compared to my 2GB RAM. However, I am running Windows XP, as opposed to Vista which you may be running, so that will have an impact on RAM usage too. So in that case, you should probably consider an upgrade to 2GB RAM in the future.

Not well. Laptop video cards seem to be one of the most misunderstood items here on answers, people are constantly saying "oh yes that will run games great" etc. This is a low end graphics card, and its a laptop graphics card, both of which do not equate to good gaming. You may be able to run current games with the settings at low, but don't expect anything better. Laptops are different than desktops, the graphics cards need to be designed to use less power because they run on a battery, and they need to produce less heat because they are in an enclosed space. This causes them to have less power than there desktop counterparts.

you'll be fine with that. It's a very good laptop with an excellent guarantee and the graphics card is sufficient. How much RAM does it come with? If it comes with 1GB as standard try to ask them to give that to you in 1x1GB rather than 2x512MB so that in future you can upgrade it to 2GB easily by slotting 1GB into the spare slot.
That's a very good computer, I've been installing one this morning and it's faster than what we use here at work on just about every level. Asus are specialist laptop builders, they know what they're doing and they give you as much as they can for the money you spend, you don't pay for the name as you do for the Viao and you don't get the cheap and nasty components that you find in some of the larger, business oriented PC makers.

Don't know about that particular model, you don't often see ASUS get a mention on here, but I've got an ASUS A9 laptop and it's a cracker! Seems much better built than my mate's new Toshiba, for less money.

you should be ok with most games just not at the high settings, get the most ram that you can afford as the X2300 steals some of it memory from your RAM.
