Does anyone else find this to be deeply disturbing, that Republican (and Democratic) presidential candidates and supporters are calling for troop withdrawal from Iraq by 2008 -- which happens to coincide with the presidential election?

Why curious? Polls show most Americans want us to get out of Iraq. Presidential candidates read these polls.

If we didn't have to put up with the inconvenience of elections our leaders could do whatever they wanted.

We're already half way through 2007 so the politicians are calling for troop withdrawal within the next 6 months minimum. The majority of Americans want the war to end now. These candidates understand what the people of this country want, someone who can truly lead and not just make a show of it.

I hope it's a lie just to get elected. There should not be a pullout date from Iraq. The pullout date should be whenever the job is finished and Iraq is secured and safe. If we leave now or anytime before the job is done Iraq will be a haven for terrorists and radicals to gather and plan out ways to harm America.

Clearly... They wish to pander to the MEDIA. Who ever has them on there side will have a better chance of winning. Note I did not say the BEST chance, only a better chance.

The public decides for themselves (as displayed by Dan Rather's election coverage)... Thank God.

I do find it curious that they tried to sneak past the "Immigration bill" that 80% of America was against, they almost passed it, it may still pass again, HMMMM, let's see, that's another 600,000 votes in their favor ??????????

NOW IS THE TIME TO TAKE A BULL DOZER TO WASHINGTON ! Afraid of losing the "Spanish" VOTE ? Well I wrote to Washington, and I advise you to do the same, "How about the "American" Vote ? YA KNOW, THE ONE THAT VOTES YOU OUT OF OFFICE" !

Both sides are doing nothing more than pandering. We'll be there for many years to come, whether we like it or not.

I don't find it curious at all.
