I'm looking for a good history book about Ancient Rome. I would prefer one that stretches from Romulus and Remus to the end of the eastern empire. If you recommend one that does not have this span please say what period/s of the roman period it encompasses.

Hi, When I did my Ancient history degree, the basic text book that we used was "A History of Rome" by Cary & Scullard. Although we used other more specific books for more in depth research on certain areas, this gives a good over view from the very beginning up to he reign of Constantine. Should be just what you need.
