law enforcement is all about making money today. They'll right a parking ticket before busting a drug dealer. They prevent no crime, nor have our best interest at heart.

I live in England but have spent the weekend up in Scotland where of course their smoking laws are no longer big news. The contrast was quite stark, people accepted where they stood with smoking, there was no whinging or squealing about it, if they wanted a smoke they went outside. End of! Why is there so much squealing from English talking like this is something that has come out of the blue and no one else on earth has this whereas they do but they just deal with it and gets on with their lives?

I am a smoker so my tax from work & smoking are going towards it.The people who wanted the ban should have realised it costs money to be enforced & will eventually bring in a nice earner for the councils.Mind I think the vast majority of smokers will not bother to break the ban.I do not drink & do not smoke in non smoking places yet thanks to non smokers I have to shell out more money.I sympathise that you have to put up with criminals living on your street. However thats life.

If they wanted to ban smoking they would ban cigarettes.
And it's a very bad drug, I'd say you're best off with getting drugs from one of the dealers, the money doesn't get spent on enforcing silly fake "bans", and you've got much less harmful drugs to take there.

GAH, I HATE DRUG LAWS!
I don't take drugs, but they're stupid (the laws).

Smoking kills - that's a fact. The problem is that the government nearly always chooses to solve a problem from the wrong end. The only way to curb smoking is to ban the manufacture of cigarettes.

Anyone who smokes, after learning the damage that tobacco smoke does to them, their children and people who have to share the same space as them, are selfish idiots.

It's only blokes with small willies that smoke. Just think guys, every time you stick a ffag in your face you are advertising to the world that you have a little todger!

Women who smoke might just as well have "SLAG" tatooed on the foreheads or how about "BRAIN DEAD."

It's easy to give up the weed, just never stick one in your face again - ever!

Absolutely. A law was passed banning speaking on hand held mobile phones in cars, that hasn't worked so how are they going to stop someone smoking in a firms car/van/lorry?

I am a non smoker, and have asthma so do not go to places where there is lots of smoke, that is my choice. I do not need a law to help me.

It's Elliot Ness and the Untouchables all over again. The only thing which should be banned is prohibitionism itself.

What do you expect. It's just another piece of the 1984 jigsaw falling into place. Watch all of the people - all of the time.

Who are the people getting paid for such a job...?

As far as I can see the owners/managers and their staff are having to enforce it or they get heavier fines than the offender gets.

Wheres my cut then.....?
