Don't forget even Michael Howard won the English popular vote (ie he got a higher share of the vote in England than Labour).

The English are instinctively right wing as most polls of public opinion show.

After having looked up codwallop, which apparently means "nonsense," I starred this question. Is there a real possibility of that happening? Are the political policies of Scotland and England so different? Why? How would Scotland support itself? Isn't the North Seas' oil running out? I understand Tory vs. Labour, but is right wing in Britian the same as right wing in the U.S.? Is the British right wing focused on social issues rather than economic? I also read a Guardian article that suggested Britian had more terrorist attacks because immigrants are assimilated in the U.S. and isolated in Europe. Does this apply to the U.K? I'm American--3rd generation British. Good question--sorry for the series of questions in return instead of an answer.

i think of it could make the north south divide in England greater glaring. The north being Labour and left wing and the south being Tory and genuine wing. There are greater human beings interior the south you you probable could have an consistent Tory government until they did some thing truly undesirable or the Labour social gathering grew to alter into (even) truer wing. or perhaps then it may be complicated to capture the southern electorate faraway from balloting Tory. on the 2nd the Scottish and Welsh votes provide some stability to this equation meaning that the government has a tendency to swing between one social gathering and the different. As for individuals in England being truer wing. i'm not sure in spite of the actuality that i think of this is honest to assert that individuals interior the south of england are greater capitalistic

Most polls ask only a couple of thousand people and the results are extrapolated to equate to a whole population. We would surely be better informed and our politicians would be better able to represent us, if the majority view was known on all issues after asking everybody concerned. A website now exists to canvas the majority view on every issue, from local level to international, for every community.

Independent Scotland is not econmically viable, even the long run viability of UK itself is doubt ful.If UK does not undertake rapid reconstruction of its economy and improve its share of world trade ,UK will have to become another State of USA.Independant Scotland will have to depend on England for survival.Independant Scotland will be a poor country like Bangladesh.

I thought this some time ago. Dont tell Eton boy, he might start a campaign to get Scotland their independance. Then we'd be stuffed.

Depressing thought isn't it?

Hopefully the English to come to their senses, but perhaps only once their NHS and schools had been privatised.

Probably, but after a couple of terms the picture might change.

Nothing wrong with that. If the Scots want to go it alone let them.
