Almost all of us have our own little likes and dislikes. When we live in close proximity to others we find that what we like and what they like sometimes clash.

If we go over and in a civil manner tell our neighbor that something they are doing bothers us then the neighbor has the option of doing something about it. Depending upon what it is, he may make an effort to change it and change things enough to where it will no longer bother us.

If the neighbor, on the other hand disregards our request and continues what he was doing, perhaps in a more obnoxious manner then he is being unreasonable. Let's say for instance he was playing loud music at night constantly and after you complained he turned the volume up louder.

This would leave you no recourse but to contact the police and ask them to intervene because your neighbor was unreasonable.

compromise, compromise and compromise, if you or your neighbour are unwilling to compromise then one or both of you should be deemed a bad neighbour. there is always a solution to every problem when it comes to neighbours, it is up to both of you to find that solution, you will get nowhere just by getting angry with each other, in fact you will probably make things worse. Incidentally, i live next door to my in-laws, would you like to exchange? good luck.

i have one right above me...she is a nightmare...no carpets on her floor and walks round her room wearing heels, stomping round just to annoy me...always fighting with the others who live in our block...talks about herself all the time and is extremely spiteful, talks in numbers, has to put a price on anything she talks about, and she is tries to control the house, thank god she is not my room mate, I'd have kicked her a*se way before now, can't stand her at all, she knows that she annoys me and does it all the more, that's OK though because i know who's been shagging her man, so if she does get in my face again, I'll be telling her that her sister is a tramp just like her....i think that might shut her up...

I agree with some of the previous answers - lack of consideration for others, such as loud noise, smelly bonfires or barbecues - anything that spoils their neighbours' 'peaceful enjoyment of their property'.
