Hi!

What about ...

Shye?

Shai?

The more I say it, the more poetic it sounds! What a lovely idea for a name!

Anyway, hope this helps!

I'd have to agree with politicsguy, only because 1. Cheyenne is a very beautiful name that means Speak incoherently. 2. you could call her Chey or Shy for short like you want to.
Now for my own answer and not just backing him up. Other ways you could spell Shy are: Shye, Shi, Shyee.
Or you could name her a name that means shy such as: Gweirful(kinda werid, i know) and call her Gwen for short or name her Gweirful and call her Shy so that you can call her Shy but she knows she has a real name and not just a characteristic of a person.
Another option you can try is naming her another name that has shy in it. Becareful though because these names won't come out as somewhat modern names. Try these:
1.Shyla (this name means blind so the meaning takes away from the name, but the name is pretty)
2. Shyanne (different spelling of Cheyenne, but makes more sense if you want to call her Shy)
****Keep in mind that the baby girl might be very outgoing and she might not be anything like shy. So becareful because as she grows up she might think a lot of different things about her names. Also kids can be very mean and could use the name shy against her like "you don't have a real name". So caution about that. I really hope i helped because a name lasts a life time so if i helped you reason with a name and possibly have saved the child trouble, that means so much. Please let me know what you decided on. Then we can all help with middle names!
p.s.
if you do go with the name Shy don't have any names like : Joy, Hope, Faith. for the middle name.

Sorry, but I'm with Pifaninjat and others who suggest that you pick a name with the sound of 'shy' in it. I'm afraid that she will get teased if she is anything but shy and still teased if she actually is a shy child. Kids can be really cruel.

i think unusual spelling of a "common" name is a fairly intersting decision by parents...

Scenario:
"what's your name?"
"Shighe"
"ok, i'll just type that into our database"
"oh no, sorry, i spell it s-h-i-g-h-e....i think?!?"
"oh, that's unusual"
"yes i know, your the 14th person to tell me that this week..."

the name "Shy" is quite nice. i like it - it's grown on me big-time in the last 15 mins. spelling it so that no one will EVER get it right the first time makes it un-cool/un-wieldly. it will be a frustration in my opinion.

my 15-month-old is ben - not benjamin, or bhen, or bengiman... it's a good strong (but gentle) name which suits him incredibly well and will most likely be spelt right, first time, 99.9% of the time saving him weeks over his life-time in re-spelling.

we're struggling to "name" unborn #2. 25 weeks to go though

good luck! : )

No. Because what'll happen is she'll actually be very outgoing and everyone will wonder why the heck her parents named her that. Try using a name that has "Shy" in it.
