Medically, a sociopath is someone with no concept of good and evil, of moral and immoral. They have no regard for life, no concept of compassion. Any act is just a an act, it has no moral value neither positive or negative.

More generally it is someone who chooses to live outside of society. Characterized by highly anti-social behaivor, a sociopath only does things to fufill his/her own needs and disregarding all else, i.e. the well being of other indivduals, or the constraints of societal "rules".

They are well aware of what they're doing and have a good grip on reality as opposed to a psychopath.

Antisocial Personality Disorder is also known as psychopathy or sociopathy. Individuals with this disorder have little regard for the feeling and welfare of others. As a clinical diagnosis it is usually limited to those over age 18. It can be diagnosed in younger people if the they commit isolated antisocial acts and do not show signs of another mental disorder.

starting with the presumption that a person that does not have feelings, should have regard for others feelings is not knowing what you are talking about.

that is like saying a person that does not speak French should teach French.
like building tolerance to medication.. you are product of extreme environment
and surrounded by emotional time bombs.. lacking the knee jerk reactions to life's circumstances and inability to put on a phony mask (persona) and play charades.. is not a flaw.

shutting ourselves away.. and having no regard as you put it.. is simply the mechanical nature of our existence
do unto others.. they have no regard for they way we are.. and act as if it is some sort of choice... so we have no regard for you phonies
