I've been watching some live Muse videos on youtube and every once in a while the guitarist would reach behind the nut and make a real high pitch sound like harmonics or something. Can all guitars do that? if so how?

No, its not a whammy bar or bender thing at the bridge. He reaches behind the nut with his right hand and it makes this real high pitch ringing sound. When i try strumming behind the nut of my guitar, it sort of makes that sound but its very weak and not loud at all, so perhaps i thought there's more than just strumming the strings behind the nut.
