i shall be working with children who havw severe diabilities, after the holidays, i have worked with children before with additional support needs but this time they are severely dusabled physically as well as mentally.. i want to go intio this job with as much confidence as possible, as its abit more intense than i am used to.. any advice please would be great...xx

i am in a similar job but with adults and teenagers and love my job Suggest you relax and enjoy These people have their own way of comunicating to you plus you will get training on how to care for your residents at first you will always have a qualified worker with you.

I think that you are qualifies to this Job, i conclude this from you question, you are a responsible person,be sure that you will going on this work easily, so you need advise from the whole world while you are giving us one,understanding peoples like those children's is not easy so at first keep your self calm and but your self in their shoes before take any action.

Have you been offered any training for yor new job? Sounds like you should have been. There are issues of safety when lifting, moving people who cannot express pain, going to the toilet procedures etc. Your employer should be training and supporting you with this.
