You may have a point. We clearly saw that Bush would not support an initiative that was good for America in general but bad for rich right wing anglo saxon prostestants.

Well, I would hope that race would not be a factor in his support for a policy but I'm sure it would offend someone, somewhere no matter what it is. I do believe in stricter criminal laws and making sure that people receiving welfare are actually in need of it. We see so many people (of all races) that get away with crime and those that are on welfare but too lazy to look for a job, always expecting free handouts. It makes it harder for us tax-paying citizens to get ahead because we're supporting these losers.

of course he would.
He's a politician first and foremost.
Like most politicians he would talk ,in public at lease, about how badly he feels about having to support such a measure and how they must do something to counter the measure. But pass the bill he would.
By the mere asking of the question you have placed Black people in a separate category.
I believe if you truly look at your proposal there would be more whites affected than blacks.
As the economy circles the bowel you may come to regret not having welfare.

NO, although the question ins meaningless--because what is good for the people of this country IS, by definition, good for America. And its only people who are bigots think blacks aren't part of America.
Affirmative action means only making sure the educational and hiring policies of organizations don't discriminate. People who think that is "bad for America" are simply bigots--and it is THEY who are bad for America.
As for the rest--MOST criminals--and most welfare recipients--are white. Its only ignorant white trash who don't know enough to realize that.

You actually think that the majority of blacks are criminals and/or on welfare and/or filing affirmative action suits?
I'm not convinced that the abolishment of any of those would be "good for America."
I *do* believe that Obama will make decisions that he believes are good for all Americans. I'm no more worried about him favoring blacks as I would worry about Romney favoring Mormons.

That's why I will never vote for a black President.
I will happily vote for a President who happens to be of African ancestry.
