Well, to me, there are so many wonders in the world and the list doesn't add nor detract from their magnificence. Statue of Liberty still rocks, etc.

I think the organisers have decided to include the Great Pyramid at Giza as an "honorary" wonder after the Egyptians complained about this.
Which just goes to show what a load of old cobblers the whole thing is.
For a start it was decided by internet vote only, which therefore excluded many people and probably skewed the voting towards the USA (which could be why there are many popular American tourist destinations in the list).
Any list like this that excludes places like the Giza pyramid or the Acropolis in Athens is, to my mind, not worth a fig.

The pyramids are there as the only remnants of the old list of the 7 wonders. They were not being voted for....they automatically got a position there....
There was voting only for the things into the new list...
Pity Acropolis didn't get through though.

It is--the one in Giza is already one of them and will remain one of them. The pyramids of Mexico have to get voted in to be one of the new 7 wonders (look it up and you can vote).

Because the 7 wonders were chosen by voting. Egypt is an Islamic country and Muslims abhor the democratic process.
