I don't understand. I mean, when I was a young teenager, I always wanted to join the army, but that was until I realised what the hell they actually do, y'know, the truth.
How come some people are just completely against the idea of peace?

If it's happened in the past it's OK to kill again?
I'm sorry, but I'm christian, but I think that the idea of thinking it's OK to wage war because the bible says it is is ludacrus. All you have to do is say "no more". It's not the politicians that control everything, it's you that control everything, as a world of millions of people, and only a few hundered politicians, we have more power.

Because if there was complete peace the governments would have nothing to do.
It dates back throughout human history does war as well, I mean if you look at the Americans disliking muslims and us having a big hatred for Nazis, and some people for Germans. It's all passed on through culture, so everyone follows the pattern and nobody thinks "Wait, this is silly. I have no reason to hate you" and instead people just follow a pattern.

Because in the last 400 years of world history there has only been 10 when a war has not been occuring somewhere on the planet.
British troops have been serving in a conflict zone almost every year since 1939.
the concept of "peace in our time" is a total contradiction of the facts.

Because it is idealistic and unattainable, to put it simply.
There will always be people who will want to take what others have, who choose to blame others for their own failures, who choose to hate others because of their beliefs, who wish to gain personal power and riches and realize that bloodshed is the quickest way to achieve it, etc.
And such uses of violence will always be successful when used against people who have voluntarily left themselves vulnerable to violent men, or who seek peace at any price.
There will always be violent men - Hitlers, Stalins, Maos, Pol Pots, Castros, Saddams, bin Ladens, etc, etc. These people only succeed when good people fail to be prepared to act against them.
Study the history of Europe in the 1930's to see how the peace-seeking nations fared in checking Hitler's ambitions without considering using the threat of force.
Peace is only possible when all parties seek peace. That's not going to happen any time soon.

If, by 'people' you mean politicians, then I agree with you. But I think most 'normal' people would love to live in a peaceful world.

Peace can't even be attained here on YA! How would you expect to achieve world peace?
The problem is that your idea of what is right and just for all isn't somebody elses idea of right and just.
Fighting, protecting and trying to expand ones territory is part of nature.

Well let me explain why we have wars.Your mr average want speace but politicians are elected to look after your interests.
You need water, you need food, you need oil,you need money,
you need to be able to get a house and you desire a good education. Now the politician if he does not try to meet your demands or at least acknowledge them he will be out on his ear.Your demands cause war.Can you imagine the out cry
if tomorrow if your government told you cannot use oil and that you had reduce your living standard drastically.

Don't be afraid of the animals that hunt their prey. You will likely be shot by another human that is struggling for his or her power for the sake of themselves or someone else. Does this sound like the war we have going on in Iraq? You bet it does.
No one wants peace, so long as it means we remain equal. Power is absolute corruption for a reason.

Because peace doesn't help economies. How many Americans are employed in it's 'defense' industry? Never mind the soldiers. Think of those that clothe, feed and transport them. Think of all the ones employed in the logistic side of an army.
Oh ... and the Old Testament says it's ok to kill. An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth remember?

Take just a moment to look back in our history, and reflect on which Presidents' take America to war - without real justification for it.
Peace in America, will never happen as long as we have the rich, elitist, 'don't give a damn' about the "people", war mongering presidents...

Because the world does not agree with each other, so their could be no peace. People aren't against it, they just know that its not gonna happen. Sure I'm for world peace, but I know there is never going to be world peace. Check the Bible there is going to be one world war focusing all on Israel, and its going to happen soon. So ya the whole idea for world peace is great, but it just won't work.
