Well my parents are in one now and have been for the past 43 years. My dad is abusive but my mum has stayed with him for the sake of her children :). I wouldn't want her to part with him anyway because as much as I dislike him, I know that it would be harder with only one parent. It would be hard for the parent who has to work really long hours to earn money for the kids while the kids are at home by themselves worrying where mum/dad is. At least when the kids come home, one parent is there then later, the other one arrives. And don't worry, things will change for the better, trust me and remember that things happen for a reason so stick around and you'll see the reason. You'll be amazed at the results :)

IF the relationship is in the 'too hard basket' - if you both have given up on trying to make it work - give it up.
If he's abusive, violent, a drunk - does drugs etc... get away.
A child needs a loving parent, if there is just one, so be it, the child would be much better off growing up without arguments around them 24/7.
You will be more at peace with yourself also.

It's better if the loveless relationship ends but the only reason to confine the children to only one parent would be if the other one is abusive or alcoholic or is otherwise unfit to continue being apart of their child's life.

no because you will teach your children to stay in a bad relationship. I know you are going through it right now but this is the time to be strong for your kids.

when one parent is abusive...a drunk, an unemployed drunk, etc.
oh, to answer your question...better off with one happy parent. Can always spend time at the other parent's house right?
