There'd be lotsa screwy goings-on with this what-if statement. Current flows are largely determined by salinity and thermal differences (thermohaline as it's called in Oceanography). Then you have tidal forces from the Moon that meld the tides of the Earth like putty, given its location at any one time.
If the seas stopped, you would need more than a few bizarre things to go on. Homogenous sea water with no difference in temperature or salinity would be one. No moon to create tidal forces would be another. The Earth shouldn't be moving, spinning, etc at all.
In addition to this, you couldn't have tectonic activity, as those cause tsunamis from sudden water displacement. But that goes moreso in to waves being an impossibility rather than the usual causes (wind, etc) being nonexistent...
If something like this came true, I'd be more concerned with the Earth and laws of science moreso than no wave activity....

think the world would be at a standstill, no day or night, although those who were in darkness would stay in darkness, and those in light would stay in light, this is because the moon would have either stopped moving or the earth had, as the movement of the sea is dictated by the moons movements, (sure it's the moon and not the sun).
Also the wind would be non existent as the wind would increase the size of the waves. finally how boring would the sea be and all the worlds surfers would have to find another sport.

The waves in the seas would not stop once there is sun.
Because with sun there comes warm air and cold air, they forms a current which cause wind.
With wind there will be waves.
If waves in the seas stopped, that's the end of us.

The force of moving gases cause the sea waves,if it stopped
then there could be no life! That could be the warning sign of an ARMAGEDDOM as foretold long ago!

The waves have been lapping against shorelines for millions of years before we came along, and they will still be doing it long after we have gone.
They are quite amazing really if you think about them, they are like a continual indication of the rotation and influence of the revolutions of the sun and moon.

This would be a virtual impossibility as in order for this to happen the moon would have to have been blown up.
The moon controls the waves.

This can happen only when there is no wind which means there are no pressure systems. The consequence of this will be there will be no weather which again means there is no rain.No rain means no river, no forest, no drinking water etc.Like this you yourself can imagine the consequences.

Waves I think are caused by winds & the moon's influence, so assume no winds, no trade winds, climate world-wide affected. (Mind you no hurricanes or typhoons).

We will burst in fires, as no waves means no winds!!! & many factors will be created accordingly.
