I strained it yesterday evening. It's morning now. I've taken ibruprofen for it already. I took a very warm shower after this happened. What else can be done? Just rest? No one here to massage it for me. My husband left for the week.

aww i feel your pain. I am always pulling and straining neck muscles and it can hurt so bad you question if you should go to the doctor. Just try to rest and not put anymore weight or strain on it. Keep taking the pain medicine and wait it out. If it starts to get worse of you have chills, fever, etc then of course go to the doc

Whichever side is affected, drop the same shoulder away from the neck and pull the head in the opposite direction, or shrug your head and shoulders as hard as you can. Either way will help lessen the tension. Then gently roll head and shoulders, side to side, front to back. We learned this in massage therapy.

keep the area warm. Either by a heated neck pad or when you lay in bed, put the covers over ur neck.
