Because they are the enemy.
Just after 9/11, in the rubble of what was once the World Trade Centers, the devastated Pentagon, and an isolated Pennsylvanian field - though all the lose of life - we as Americans demanded justice, demanded those responsible be held accountable.
It was then that I clearly understood a statement that I had heard many times before:
"YOU ARE EITHER WITH US OR AGAINST US".
There is no middle ground here.
If you harbor insurgents, supply then with arms, provide them with aid and comfort, then you are our enemy.

My my, aren't we enlightened. With comments like the first couple up there, it isn't really too far a jump to come up with a reason why Syrians or anyone from the mideast, or muslim for that matter, would want to harm your soldiers.
Now, don't get me wrong, I'm not in cahoots with terrorists anywhere, not do I go to bed hoping that God will come and destroy the US etc etc.. but some of the comments made up there shows shallow thinking, with a complete disregard or respect for other cultures.
One only has to think about the duality of things in the world to realise that little is black or white in this world, and certainly not in the mideast. You call them terrorist, the locals call them freedom fighters, they hide behind civillians (some of whom are perfectly happy to do so), US soldiers take cover behind armored personnel carriers, the US believes they are bringing freedom and liberty, the locals only see chaos, violence and an invading army.
To be quite honest, I don't see any fault whatsoever in the insurgents targetting US soldiers, they are soldiers after all. I do have trouble when they bomb indiscriminately, or when they target civillian contractors etc, but this is a war, and it would be foolish to think that in a low intensity insurgency like this that the rules of war will be followed to the letter. To do so, would only result in the insurgents being wiped out quite honestly.

well the usa has always been anti-syrian. "Assad is a terrorist." "Get out of Lebanon. Only Jews are allowed to occupy Lebanon." "Jews have every right to occupy the Golan Heights" maybe you should ask why saudi insurgents shoot at usa troops. Maybe it's because the usa is against the saudi people but not against the saudi royals.

There is no mention of Syrian insurgents in the news, only "foreign fighters". The Syrians do not want to fight us, although we and Israel have been threatening to attack them for several years. Syrian intelligence may be helping Iraqi fighters, but they are not attacking us. Please read the news before you post misinformation.

US soldiers are illegal immigrants like mexicans in USA.
The difference is, those US soldiers carrying guns and missile that can killed innocent people, that equivalent as a criminal that why any local people can kill any US soldiers.
Even in USA, a muslims man carrying or not carrying gun will be hunt down in every corner of the state. Thats is USA jurisdiction. But in middle east, they have their own jurisdiction. So dont make mess with them. Very high risk.

Because they are Muslims and they are determined to wipe us out. They want us out of Iraq. I say OK to this...let's get out and let the Muslims kill one another. We can save billions and then pay for new equipment and build a mighty military to fight the inevitable war that we will be in.

Think about it - If you kill my daughter from an errant bomb strike or carelessness, I'm going to hate you and respond. Plain and simple. What do you expect? You think these people are going to love us after we've killed their INNOCENT family and friends?
