Remember learning the scientific method in high school?
1. Come up with a hypothesis.
2. Test the hypothesis.
3. Make a statement, adjusting the hypothesis to fit the results of your tests.

That is what the medical profession is all about. Medicine IS the scientific method. It is a trial and error thing. The doctor comes up with a suspected diagnosis (hypothesis), he runs tests, starts medications while waiting for those results. Then he gets the test results back, and must decide what is going on. After he makes his final diagnosis, based on the tests and his assessment of the patient, he adjusts his hypothesis (or diagnosis) as needed to fit the test findings.

That's my story and I'm stickin' to it!!!!

The medical field is a deep and complex field that entails broad topics and requires specific and narrow answers to everything in these topics, hence specialization. Doctors are people too, some are head over in money but I believe doctors are true and genuine. They can't know everything about every problem in the world, and to answer the first answer about obesity and nutrition, not all doctors deal with these types of cases so that is stereotypical. As a future orthopedic surgeon (hopefully) I plan on trying to be knowledgeable in all healthcare areas but there is no way you will be a specialist in all areas. Doctors work hard, went through alot of schooling to get where they are, and deserve credit for what they do to help people.

My philosophy? I really question many medical providers. It irritates me that we are paying them to perform services and they certainly do not always provide customer service. They take an unusually long time, have a God complex and most do not even listen to half of what you are saying.
I think that medicine is highly overpriced and the only people that get the real treatment is the insured. Companies are cheap and don't provide health care to the ones that need it the most.
I have medical insurance and I can barely afford the premiums and copayments.

I think there are great doctors out there but they are so lazy !!! I mean you tell them one thing they are so ready to rush you out of the office and take your money they just give you a prescription without telling you why or anything...part of the reason why I am so afraid of going whenever I do go I make sure they work for their money...I ask question after question just to be sure they are sure...They shouldn't show sympathy I don't want that I do want them to show empathy though...and plus I want to see that they work hard just like we work hard to pay them (well my parents)...also I want them to feel passionate about their job...I mean don't just work for the money...Laziness is all I am seeing at the moment but they are still good in a way...sometime home remedies can do the trick in my opinion...just be careful and sometimes things are so bad you just have to get up and go to the DOCTOR so let's not put them down too low...smiles

I believe the medical profession is a group of hard working people who save lives, relieve human suffering, help bring babies into the world, and lengthen people's lives.

I have met some doctors who are real "people people", but too many who are arrogant. I don't think it helps for doctors to believe they are higher classed than their patients. I like the ones who are down to earth, and have common sense. That's probably about 10% that I have met.

I believe that doctors are not taught enough about nutrition, calories, and exercise. Hence, the childhood obesity epidemic. Also, I believe that pharmacists know more about medications than doctors. But that's their job, so maybe there's only so much a doctor can know. -L

In America it is a joke. They seem to think more of money than people. Get them in, get them out, collect money!
They don't listen to there patient any more.
