Paying me a week late, causes me to pay late on my personal payment. Bounce checks cause my account to go negative. When i confornt her to pay me on time, she said no, and that she will mail me check. HELP!! What should i do?

Unfortunately, unless you have a contractual commitment naming dates, there is no legal standard as to what's considered to be "on time". There is a difference between your personal and professional life and the employer has no commitment to ensure you can pay your bills on time. It's up to you to ensure that you have the money and if you know you're going to be paid late you should plan ahead. As long as you are getting paid there is very little you can do.

As to the bounced check, if checks are bouncing you can sue her for the money she owes you, but it's usually quicker to handle this kind of case out of court. You might want to report her to the Better Business Bureau and your State Department of Licensing.

The best suggestion I can give is to start looking for alternate employment. I would not quit until you've already found a job though. Also contact your State Department of Labour and see if you're required to give advanced notice before quitting. In some states you are not, but in others you are. If you are required to give notice and you don't you may become ineligable for certain benefits and could even be sued by your former employer for lost work.

I hope you make a good decision for you.

When you report her, she will fire you. Start looking for another job immediately. Keep all your documents to prove what has been happening to you. After you get your new job, report her. This is absolutely outrageous. You don't have to put up with this crap! Until then, you can base her future behavior by the past. Take the checks she writes you directly to her bank from now on. You may also be able to telephone them prior to find out if the funds are available. I wouldn't deposit one more checks of hers into your account. She is liable for the penalty fees your bank has charged you. She is NOT liable for the bounced check fees you incurred by writing checks against your paycheck, however. Make certain her checks clear in the future before you write any checks against them! You can take her to small claims court. If you do, you have to have all the proof with you in the form of documents. I feel bad for you. I hope you find a new job soon!

Yeah, you can, but I think the company has to have more than 5 employees for them to get involved. However, do call hourly wage department of your state employment agency.

I strongly suggest that you find another job, and soon. If your employer is having a hard time paying you, it could be because that the business is failing and may not be around too much longer. Either that or they are trying to run you out and get you to quit. In such a small office, you should be able to figure out which one is the real deal. good luck.

You might consider telling him that he must now pay you in advance. As soon as each check clears, you'll come back to work. If the checks don't clear, you don't do the work.

If you were in the USA, it's better to be fired than to quit (you're more likely to get unemployment benefits if you're fired). Just FYI.

You hold the power. You have a monopoly on the position. There is no one else out there that can do your job. So just call your boss and let him know that your quiting. Then see his tune change.

It's time to stand up for yourself and file a lawsuit. Good Luck to you and God Bless You! You are being done wrong and you need someone that will look into the matter for you and a good judge will do just that for you! Thanks and Go for it! when you have the paper work and the facts all together then who can deny that and also have a wittness to the fact that you have tried to talk to her your Boss. Good Luck to you!

What your boss is doing is illegal.
My wife had a similar problem at her job.
Take the issue to the better buisness bureau ( www.bbb.org/ ).
