i visitied a local occult store and they had at least 50 different kinds of decks. do they have different cards or different meanings? or do the back sides of the cards just look different?

There might be some little diffrrences in meaning form one deck to the next. The Major cards will keep the same meaning but the minor cards may vary a little.
Yes there are many, many sets out there. What I did was let the deck pick me. Sounds funny, but it works great. Other wise find one that fits you.

Just take your time and examine different cards until a deck just yells at you to take it home...I feel it is easier to learn on a Rider-Waite type of deck but the choice is yours alone...

You do not choose the deck. The deck chooses you. Hold them in your hands and you will know when you have the right one for you.

You are suppose to get the deck that calls out to you. Its better that way becasue you can connectg with them alot better.
