Meat is great, and full of iron. Dark leafy greens, dry beans, peanut butter... your prenatal vitamin is very important, and if you're officially anemic, you should take an extra iron supplement as well...don't take these pills at the same time you eat or drink dairy... dairy inhibits your body's absorption of iron... vitamin C helps your body absorb iron, so if possible, take your supplements with a glass of juice or a piece of fruit or veggies. Cook everything you can in a cast iron skillet (eggs, meats, veggies...)... cooking in these pans helps the foods absorb a little bit of iron. Be sure to eat lots of fiber, as iron can constipate you! I had problems with anemia with both previous pregnancies and am starting to have issues again this time around... so goes life! Good luck!

Hello fellow anemic. I'm anemic as well. My doc gave me iron supplements to take and suggested that I eat lots of meat, leafy greens (raw spinach w/ranch dressing is great), and rice. Also, don't forget to drink your water. It's important for flushing out the system. You know how the old saying goes, out with the bad, in with the good :)
I hope this helps!

Congrats on the bub. Make sure you eat heaps of green leafy vegetables. The greened they are the better. Fresh spinach in a salad is good but make sure you wash it well. If you like meat then red meat 2-3 times a week. Also get an iron supplement from your chemist. I don't know where you live but in Australia we have things like Betamin (B12 supplement, fefol, ferro-gradumet, or Blackmores Pregnancy and Breastfeeding supplement) Just make sure that your meat is cooked well and all fresh veggies washed well too.

Rice is good, and eat a lot of red meat since red meat carries a lot of iron.
