I plan on getting a rabbit soon and I wanted to know how much an American Fuzzy Lop, a Flemish Giant or a German Grey Giant would cost.

I would prefer the cost of a baby rabbit, but whatever you know is okay.

The price of the rabbit normally depends on the breeder and how good that breeder thinks the rabbit is. German Grey Giants aren't really raised in the US. They would probably have to be imported from Europe. Importing rabbits is never all that cheap. For Flemish Giants and American Fuzzy Lops you could either look up the websites for their national clubs and find breeders through their websites or you could go the the American Rabbit Breeder's Association website and look up when the next rabbit show around your local area is occuring. The ARBA's website is http://www.arba.net.

Another avenue that you can go is to check out some of the local 4-H fairs for those breeds of rabbits.

Prices of most rabbits normally range from about $25 to about $250.

Never assume that because a rabbit costs more that it is better as far as show quality. The best way to get a good show rabbit is to get an ARBA standard and talk to breeders of that breed and learn how to pick out a good rabbit. I've seen many people pass up buying rabbits from my dad and I and go to this one other breeder in the state that raises the same kind of rabbits that we do. The other breeder normally charges $150 per rabbit and we normally charge $35-50 per rabbit. However that last several times that my dad and I have shown against that guy we'd normally show 3-7 rabbits per class and gain all the top spots in the class and he'd place near the bottom of the class. So people were paying 3 times as much or more for rabbits that weren't nearly as good. Yet people seem to go to him more because they think the rabbits are better because the price is higher.

So learn to pick out a good one. It will save you a lot of money. Especially watch out for some of the big name breeders. Just because the breeder has a well reknown name and wins a lot doesn't mean that person will sell you a better rabbit than Joe Schmoe that lives right down the street. We one time bought rabbits off a guy when we were first getting started and the guy had won the National Convention. The three rabbits we got off him were junk. We had a friend of ours who was a long time rabbit breeder pick us up one that he and a few of his rabbit judge friends thought was good and it was much much better.

Prices vary on age, coloring, state you live in, etc. But if you get one, please look at shelters for what you want. Only a handful of people think of adopting a rabbit from a animal rescue or shelter! Even if you don't think they will have what you want, please look! If you have enough time, drive to the shelter because most shelters don't have all their animals posted on their web page and they get more almost everyday! Or try www.petfinder.com to find your new buddy!
