I have some live bait leftover from my fishing trip... And basically now theyre waiting to die... Are there some meathods to keep them alive? So far only 5 left =[ Maybe I can keep them as pets before they die... So what kind of fish food does fish bait eat? I know the water thing, it needs to be cold and dont switch the water all at once.

So @ Live fishing bait stores, what do you do to keep the fish alive?

If what you have are minnows, darters, or small catfish, they can live at room temperature water. If they're in a bait bucket and not overly crowded, you can put an aerator (airstone powered by an airpump) in the bucket and leave them overnight while the temperature adjusts to that of the room where you'll keep them. Acclimate them to the new water chemistry tomorrow as you get them ready to put in the tank or other container where you'll keep them. I've had more success with this two-stage method of acclimating natives than trying to put them into a tank and have to acclimate them to temperature and chemistry all at one time.

Fish food made for goldfish is perfect for them, since they are both coldwater species with similar nutritional requirements. Don't worry about trying to feed them tonight or until later in the day tomorrow - they'll only be getting used to their new living quarters, and won'r have much interest in food for a while.

You can also give the frozen bloodworms, since these occur naturally in streams and will be something they recognize as food.
