I was just curious....
Here in America it's not brought up in the news much anymore. I heard there was an arrest in the case, but I'm not sure if that's true or not.

As a fellow American, I concur that the case is getting no attention in the States. I don't understand why. My only source of information are the British newspapers and the participants of these Questions and Answers. The media and the public can be very unpredictable.

I still don't undestand why everyone keeps calling it a kidnapping. Madeleine at this point is simply missing. The only evidence reported that she was in fact taken by someone is her parents word. Scott Peterson said his wife was taken, Susan Smith said her car was hijacked by a black man with her kids in the back seat yet they were the guilty party. Nobody knows what has happened to this little girl except that she was on holiday left alone in a apt night after night with her 18 month old siblings. Thus far there is no other evidence being reported. I think they work things differently over there then here in the US because the US media tells us to much sometimes. I certainly pray at some point this case gets some sort of lead so this child can either come home or put to rest.

A man and and his girlfriend were arrested because he contacted a lawyer and said that he knew something about the case, the lawyer tipped-off police who put the couple under surveillance and later arrested them.
The couple are thought to have been attempting to extort €4m from the McCanns, it's still to be seen whether they really have any involvement with Madeleine being missing or know anything. Police did discover a small bed in the garage of the suspects apartment.

The Net is closing in on the Kidnappers and the only suspect in the case has been questioned again.

The only arrests have been of people fraudulently claiming reward money.
It's dropped out of the news lately.
It will only become news again if her parents dare to return to the UK where they may face child neglect charges.
