my betta fry hatched just today but a lot of them sank to the bottom of the tank. they're still moving though but barely...the daddy betta doesn't seem to notice (or just chose not to? LOL!) that there are fry at the bottom...will they die?

well, i did what you all said...kept the lights on 24/7, water not is less than 5 inches...but daddy betta just kept on building his bubble nest but all the poo babies were on the bottom! he's not blind, that i can be certain...i'm getting desperate here! the bubble nest is already gigantic but there's not a single fry is on it!

Please don't kill your fish with baby food... good grief. The male will usually help them back to the surface, but in the first day or so after hatching it's not critical that he does. They will be fine for a day or so. One thing you can do to help is to be sure the water int he tank isn't more than about 5 " deep. Even less is ok. That way he will notice them more easily.

Like magicman said just wait and see if the male will pick them up. You have to remember that the male is very tired from blowing his nest and from spawning now he has to care for 200 plus fry. Also remember to leave the tank light on 24/7 so he can continue to pick up the fallen fry at night. Most of them will probably be ok.

baby fry cant swim for a while they just "crawl" around the bottom of the tank. if all the fry have hatched its time to remove the male betta. feed them liquid fish food its easy for them to eat cuz its made just for them.

This is guaranteed to work with Bettas. Pour in some gerber baby food, diced carrots or apple sauce. Proper nutrition--this is what a growing baby needs.
