crkn (below) If they would stop shooting at us???
What is "us" doing in "their" country in the first place? I'd shoot at "us" too if you kick my door in and ramshack my house.

mckenziecalhoun (below) No. Please explain patriotism to this vet raised in a family of vets. How does the "P" word work?
People are sent on fam trips all of the time. Not in box cars either. Your dark imagination added that to the picture. Hmmmm....

Sort of like "Wife Swap" you mean? Actually, I think that is a good idea. Before anyone is allowed by a new and revised "United Nations" to start a war, the governing families of each nation has to go and live with a working family of the other nation for at least a month.
Bet it would cut down on the willingness to use the military to solve problems.
As for those who fly in the face of the decree.....they will be hunted down and (no, not shot) forced to live in a prison with only re runs of Martha Stewart on the one channel tv. They will also have to work 8 hrs a day laboring and donate every cent they earn to anyone they have harmed by their unauthorized violence. Oh, yeah, and Burger King will be the ONLY food source for the rest of their lives.

Exactly, they should know what they're supporting.
I agree with Floyd G, after they're there for 90 days,
Then tell them their trip has been extended.
While were at it, I think Bush, Cheney & Rove should
take a 90 day volunteer job in a military hospital.
Wear scrubs, empty bedpans for those who have
lost their legs & bandage wounds where limbs
& eyes used to be.

I think any government official who declares war on another nation should be prepared to lead their troops into battle and to put themselves on the front lines with their troops. None of this war mongers served a day in the military and most got extensive deferments during Vietnam. They make me sick with all their airless rhetoric. Cowards hiding behind their safe houses and pristine offices.

I assume you mean those that are pro war..No, they already know and understand. Those that say that we've lost the war, or that we shouldn't be there, let them go beyond the green zone, and talk with the families about all the improvements that have been made. Remember, it takes two to fight. If they would stop shooting at us, we'd stop firing back.

How wonderful. Your determination to no longer bury and repress the trauma is serious and intensely sensible. it constantly resurfaces, oftentimes at unwelcome situations and in unpredictable techniques. I actual have a pal who's youthful daughters have been additionally in Uganda for the time of the genocide. i will communicate to him. maybe this would element to exciting concepts.

Yes! That's the only way they'll get it through their thick skulls that war is not a game and something to take lightly and wage at will. When they learn what the real horrors and moral outrage of "collateral damage" is firsthand, then I'm sure they won't be so eager to subject others to it.

I bet you supported the attack in Somalia, where Marines were dragged through the streets. And all the libs are crying about Darfur now.
How about you go live in one of those places?
Edit: It doesn't matter how long Somalia lasted. The libs are always talking about the justification and consequences of invading.

How democratic.
I don't mean my party.
Is that what you consider the patriotic way to deal with the issue?
Should we use box cars with bars? Serial code them with brands or tattoos?
Do you have any idea how far away from patriotism this idea is, even jokingly?
