DEADLY means likely to cause death, aiming to kill or destroy ("deadly" enemy) or tending to deprive of force or vitality ("deadly" habit, a "deadly" disease), while DEATHLY means fatal; of, relating to, or suggestive of death (his skin had a pale, "deathly" pallor or color to it).
