It isn't even close. Drew Brees by a mile.
Ok, exactly what did Bush do as a running back? He had 155 attempts for 565 yards (3.6 Y/A). Never mind the fact that these numbers include several good gainers on end-arounds and reverses from the flanker position, they are pretty mediocre, especially for a feature back.
He had a very successful year as a flanker catching 88 balls for 742 yards. However, how many of those would have been much harder catches with Brooks throwing them?
Brees was easily the most important aquisition - much more important than Bush, Colston, or Payton.
But really the most valuable player has to be the media for not telling the story of the Saints. They had 5 straight 8-8 seasons before going 3-13 completely as a result of a natural disaster.
Everyone makes a huge to do about them making a miraculous return from the NFL ashheap when, in fact, they were a relatively good team who went from their usual 8 wins to 10 because they got a 4th tier schedule and excellent draft position as a result of the hurricane ruining the previous season. They added a Pro Bowl caliber quarterback and won 2 more games more than usual.

Drew Brees without question and then the Deuce. I am not impressed with Bush even though the media drools over him. The Deuce does the heavy lifting since Bush goes down with an arm tackle on too many occasions and certainly gets nowhere inside the 10 yard line. Also, the offensive line gets an honorable mention here in that Coach Payton threw them together never having played as a unit. What a performance.

Are you serious?? Its not Reggie Bush, its Drew Brees. He's the best thing that ever happened to the Saints, and the Saints are the best thing that ever happened to him. When they played against my Bears, Drew Brees had a great game ( If you don't count the game sealing interception), throwing for more than 350 yd's and 2 td's. I hope you guys go far into the playoffs, but not the Superbowl, though New Orleans needs something like that

I am going to say Charles Grant, a best of a player who is overlooked for the Pro Bowl. This guy has 10 sacks almost every season and dominates the Saints D-Line. He is by far there best player. Drew Brees is also a good players but Grant has been consistent.

This Saints fan doesn't like this question. Just how do you pick one player out of several positions? Besides, this is a TEAM in the true sense of the word, and nobody does anything well unless the whole TEAM is running on all cylinders. Reggie isn't catching the ball if Brees doesn't have time to throw to him, and neither are Colston, Copper or Henderson. Deuce or Reggie aren't running -- and Brees isn't getting time to throw -- if the O-line isn't doing its job. And the offense isn't doing anything if the defense isn't forcing punts (or picks or fumbles) and giving them good field position.
I appreciate your feelings toward Reggie, but there are a LOT of outstanding players on that team and there's no way to fairly pick one.

Reggie Bush by far the most electrifying and exciting player on the Saint, they ever have, He's unreal. Three words to describe him in this upcoming season (human highlight film.). Going to be the next Barry Sanders.

Dree Brees. Reggie isn't even 1st string. They can easily win without him because they have Deuce McAllister. Reggie is good, don't get me wrong, and I do think he will eventually become an awesome RB, but right now they don't even need Reggie. And I am not saying that because they don't need him on their team that he is not the best player. There is a reason he is a 2nd string RB.

I like Reggie Bush, but he's one of at least three or four great players on that Saints team.

reggie bush is awsome. the way he moves no one can grab him. he can slip out of someones grip and make a touch down. and all that in his first year. he is just just a great athlete and i think he's not only the best in the saints but also one of the best in the league.
