Myself being an Indian(although living in Kolkata,1000 km from gurgaon),I can assure you that it is the safest you can get here(although you might get some culture shock first landing over here) since it is actually a highly planned upcoming township where land prices are sky rocketing even by your western standards. It is only a few km from our capital New delhi.I think you would have to drive to New delhi for your work. It's actually the norm here-live in Gurgaon/Noida and work in New Delhi. There's no anti-american sentiments here, only the nuisances that come as a part and parcel of every city.O,being in/near New delhi, beware of terrorists(Al-Qaeda/KAshmiri militants),it's a favourite target for them, always on the look out to blow up important buildings, market places. But,that threat is more in USA I presume. But as far as us Indians go,you woul be welcomed here.

make some freinds and get to know the basics like locations, directions and costing. Otherwise, I dont think living there would be a problem.
