Have you talked to the gym manager? Maybe they have one and you just don't know it.

If they aren't helpful, contact the local board of health and ask them what the gym's requirements are for this certification.

The law is here: http://www.leginfo.ca.gov/pub/05-06/bill/asm/ab_1501-1550/ab_1507_bill_20050930_chaptered.html

The law requires 1 trained staff per AED (up to 5 AEDs), and the law just went into effect July 1st this year.

I did not see any comments about enforcement, so other than the fact it is a health department issue, I am not sure there would be much of a fine.

In fact, since it is a newer law, it is likely they would just get a verbal reminder. Even for established laws, the most likely action is a letter and so many days to come into compliance.

But, of all of the problems gyms offer, I can't help but wonder why you are picking on this issue. Germs, bad machines, poorly trained trainers, and so on are much bigger concerns usually.
