Just wondering if anyone out there prefers older movies to newer ones? By "old" I mean anywhere from 10 years old to 40 years old. I feel like old movies are always great to watch, especially if you have friends who enjoy watching and quoting these movies with you. New movies just aren't as cool as some of those old ones! :-)

Most of the movies i buy are ones i enjoyed from the 50s to the 80s.There was so much more variety in movies back then and most were very well made .And i never get tired of looking at them. They may not have the digital and sound quality of to-days offerings but they are still entertaining with what they have. And most have a good story line which is missing from to-days movies. To remake some of them would cost a fortune and they probably would not be as good as the original.

I love old movies! There are so many great ones, and they just have something about them that new movies all seem to lack. Not to say that there aren't any good movies being made now, but they had such better storylines in many of the old movies. And I love the look of black and white movies.

Yes, of course I do. I don't even bother watching new movies unless they are independentally made (Not by fox or warner brothers or whoever else has money). New movies are just so overdone. With all the cgi. Good movies need something today's movies don't have: A story.

It depends. I loathe remakes of "old" GOOD movies, like Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory or The Wicker Man (the first one was one of the creepiest movies I've ever seen, the remake stunk like week-old fish).

Sometimes yes. New movies focus somehow is more on technology than plot or emotion. But then b/c of that they are cool to watch too!

I'm with you. Most older movies have great stories and characters. Today it is mostly remakes or stories with similar plots to previous ones.
