because of the BCS series they make way too much money to give it up for a playoff sorry but collage football works the same as every other sport that is run by independent people where ever the money is that is where the bowl games are going to be

It would be nice, but there's TOO MUCH MONEY being made off the BCS and lower tier bowls, so obviously EVERYONE likes that arrangement. But If there were a playoff involving at LEAST 8 teams, there'd be virtually no possibility of a good team being left out due to a "weak schedule" or simply being in a 3-way tie for best record and etc.

Because bowls are too tightly tied with corporate sponsorships. When corporate America finds a way to make more money of of a Div. I championship series than they do from the current bowl system, then we will be watching the NCAA Football Final Four.

Because it interferes with the student athletes school time, causes big money loss to the the bowl game ideas, and with 120 teams, the playoff would go into March or April about the time basketball is starting. It is not going to happen ever because Presidents wont agree to it and neither will the NCAA. Stripping the Rose, Orange, Sugar, and Fiesta of money is why. Those cities THRIVE off of those bowl games because they draw money for the schools, stadiums, and cities.

Because the BCS conferences are greedy and want as much of the money as they can possibly get. A legitimate play-off series would only give them one or two teams per conference in the top-paying games instead of four to six.
Most of them would also like to get rid of the Big East (5-0 in bowl games this past season) so there would be fewer conferences to divide up the big money.

I think a lot of it comes down to money. The Bowl Games generate a lot of money for the bowls and the NCAA, so I don't see them going to a playoff in Division I for awhile.

Because when you have 180 teams, it is better to vote on the best team by what they do all season, instead of a 2 or 3 game run at the end.
