It's a Constitutional thing. Separation of powers.
First amendment--separation of church/state.
States' rights.
OR
It's a religious thing. Either way, your rights as an individual are intact. But we do not think the 1st Amendment needs to be changed every time we have a new group that thinks the US Constitution needs to be changed.
