It is illegal if you are a united states citizen to engage in sexual intercourse with a minor in another country EVEN if it is 100% legal in that country. so for instance an 18 year old goes to another country, meets someone who is 15 falls in love and has sex. It is totally legal..as a matter of fact they do it in front of the police station..lol. then that 18 year old comes back and gets sentenced for "Sexual tourism" because he still needs to follow US law even though he is outside the united states. Is this right? I don't think people should travel to have sex in other countries but I think that when you are in another country there laws should overtake any of our laws and you should be outside the jurisdiction of the US govt. to me thats freedom. regardless of how bad the crime is..the govt should have no say in activities you take when outside the country if it is not treason or against the govt of the US or against a US citizen.. what do you think?

I think that it makes sense in a weird sort of way but it's still not right.
If a US citizen leaves the country, they should no longer have to abide by our laws.
As long as you're in another country, those are the rules you need to follow.
I can understand that the US wants to keep their citizens responsible but I don't think it's right.

you are absolutely right, but our gov, has found it necessary to control our lives completely and in every instance, the gov, has no business in our private lives, they only have jurisdiction over 3 things espionage, counterfeiting, and instate commerce, and they claim they gain jurisdiction thru the interstate commerce clause, which is wrong , the first president to use this illegal law was Pres, Lincoln, every law that has been passed since Lincoln has been designed to enslave the American people and lead up to a one world gov, and it is happening before our very eyes and no one seems to care.

Not trying to be prudish, but one thing to think about is that if you desire to have the US agencies protect you if you are abroad, then they might require your behavior to follow their standards. If you are abroad and get into trouble, your immediate response is to call the embassy for help. I agree that it isn't totally fair, but with our fundamental adminstration, you probably can't expect more. Hope this helps you reason it out.
