The economy is pretty solid. Inflation is fairly low, the stock market is hitting record highs. Their are always highs and lows, and right now the highs outweigh the lows.

The economy is in good shape.

1. Housing is down because it should be down. Too much speculation and investment in real estate caused this. A pullback from record highs is necessary and not at all a sign of a poor economy.

2. The economy has shed a great deal of manufacturing jobs, but that is a mixed blessing. Manufacturing productivity has surged in the last twenty years, so some of those jobs have gone away because of productivity. Other jobs have gone to China, which can be blamed on a lot of things, namely the cost of labor. The only good thing about this is that other first world economies are in the same predicament.

3. Unemployment is low.
4. Productivity is high.

5. The deficit is too high, and it is dragging the dollar down. This can be a problem.
6. The health-care system is in poor shape, and this hurts the economy because it hurts small businesses that can be the engine of growth for the economy.
7. The tex system could be simpler and fairer. This also hurts the economy.

I have said all of this, but in general the economy on a national basis is in godo shape. Your local area may not be, but that is not necessarily indicative of the whole country.

The economy is pretty good at the moment if you are referring to USA. Unemployment numbers are low, the recently weaker Dollar helps with exporting goods. Durable goods orders remain decent. (look at the news today concerning Boeing) Blame George Bush .

Bad right now. Manufacturing jobs are pretty much non-existant in this country right now. The war is draining the national budget. The house market is declining rapidly, with people facing foreclosures.....it goes on and on.

That question is totally dependent on whether or not your name is George Bush.
