This might sound a bit dumb.. but has anyone ever had a twin hidden by the other baby?
I'm 11 weeks pregnant.. and in my sonogram that I had last week only showed 1 baby.. but they didn't really do a very good job. In my opinion..
Is it possible that there is another baby in there?
Everyone keeps saying that I'm just so big for only being 11 weeks..

I forgot to say that my sonogram was mainly to look at my appendix because I was in the ER with a lot of pain.. and then she did a quick check on the baby..
My doctor hasn't listened to the heart beat yet! My next appt. isn't till August 1st..

11 weeks is very early and i started showing at 10 i was so big i looked like i was in my second trimester..

BUT NO it is not possible that a second baby was hiding in there, other wise they would have heard a 2nd heart beat
... everybody in pregnancy is different i know i was and i even felt my baby move at 14 weeks! which is soo early

u will also find that in a few weeks your belly will settle bak down and maybe disapear? just wait until your 18week - 20 weeks scan and see how u go

Yes, this is possible. Since the babies are so tiny at this point, it's going to be hard to see just one. Often with twins, one is bigger than the other, and there is a way that the baby could be hidden behind an organ or the other baby. It might just be that this baby is going to be big or is growing quickly now but will slow down at a more normal rate as the weeks pass. Depending on your body build, you might just show more than other pregnant women at this stage. I know someone who is newly pregnant and they couldn't find the baby at all until recently; it (still unsure of the gender) was hiding!

Congratulations and hope this helps! ;-)

At 11 weeks, whether you're carrying twins or not doesn't make a big difference with your size. Some people just start showing more than others. Also, many women don't start gaining a bump until later due to weight loss caused by morning sickness. Also, review your diet, are the recent changes enough to account for your weight gain?
If you are carrying twins it will probaby be noticed fairly soon. The doctor will hear 3 heartbeats instead of 2 at your monthly checkups. Mention the possibility to the doctor and request that he make a point of looking for a second baby.

Identical twins are precipitated while one egg is fertilised via one sperm, after which it divides into 2. These don't run in households. Actually it's fraternal twins that typically run in households. These occur while 2 eggs are published and are fertilised via 2 sperm. This does now not come from the daddy's aspect of the loved ones, however the mom's. The rationale it runs within the mom's loved ones is that the mummy have got to unlock 2 eggs even as, and there generally is a genetic predisposition to this. The father will have to constantly unlock many thousands of sperm in a unmarried ejaculation, so there'll constantly be greater than adequate to fertilise as many eggs as the mummy occurs to unlock in a single ovulation. So, sorry however you should not have elevated threat of getting twins in case you had kids with him. The twins (fraternal) have got to be to your loved ones now not his. Good good fortune!

You may just be having a big baby. I looked like I was having twins and I popped out a 9 pound 5 ounce baby. If you feel like that the person who did your ultrasound did a crappy job, tell your doctor and see if you can't get another done. It is also possible that one baby is bigger than the other one and is hiding the smaller one. But I think that you might just be having one and it's little on the big side. Hope that helped. Good luck

yes it can happen. you should be able to see more at your 20 week ultrasound but technically it has happened. my best friend when she was pregnant with one of her last pregnancies they told her it was just one and then she got huge by 10 weeks, and started having problems, (bleeding cramping etc). At 19 weeks they did a heartbeat scan and the dr said omg i hear 5 heartbeats. she got scared. that night after the appointment she went into active labor they couldnt stop it. sure enough she had five little babies in her 19th week of pregnancy. so yes it can happen lol. good luck.

There is no standard for how big you should be at a given weeks pregnancy. My oldest daughter barely showed at 11 weeks with her first, and was the size of a house with her second. She was convinced it was triplets, but it was just a nice bouncy baby boy. Normal size.

Get out your stethoscope and see if you can detect more than one heartbeat.

Size isn't really a good indicator for how many babies are in there, with the exception of the septuplets.

Congratulations on your pregnancy. I hope you have a wonderful pregnancy and healthy sweety(s) to take home.

sounds like your doctor is an idiot, but as far as the baby being 'hidden'? It seems unlikely that one fetus could completely overshadow the other. More likely you are having one baby and you are just running larger than average. Don't take it personally....it just goes that was some times.

I've heard something like that, I think... Hey you never know anything is possible. Good Luck! but if not the thought of having one baby is blessing enough. My aunt was also big early in her pregnancy but she just had one healthy boy (now my godson).
