I have a laptop webcam by Creative that cost me $55 at a computer specialty store (the kind that charges more than discount stores). It can do the webcam thing, record, and be used as a security camera in at least 2 modes. One is time lapse recording, and the other is motion sensor recording. Try going to the Creative website to look up what they have available.
