wheel of a car. It's getting harder and harder for me to control my temper every time I get cut off in traffic, or some jerk blows their horn the second a light turns green. What can I do to divert this anger I have, besides give up driving?

Simple. First enroll in an anger management course. We all get a little pissed off when a mutherfucker cuts us off in traffic.Sometimes you just want to get out of the car, stomp the **** out of him, and then kick his *** to New Jersey. But it is not the right thing to do. Plus it is illegal ( I am a police officer.) Road Rage is something that you are going to have to learn to deal with in a humane fashion. Everyone goes thru this so you are not alone. At least you have the balls to admit that you want to beat the **** out a joker who cuts you off. Everyone does not drive as well as you do. Some people are more aggressive drivers than others. An anger control class can help you deal with these issues. Also, take a defensive driving course. This will not only help you to prevent accidents, but it will teach you to anticipate that some jackass might cut you off at any given time. When you anticipate the probability of something like this happening, it is easier to deal with. Last, but not least.........Before you think about stepping out of your car, and pounding this assholes face into the pavement, just remember this: You do not know what weapon this asshole has on his person nor do you don't know if this mutherfucker is Jackie Chan's little brother ( Leroy Chan), a martial arts expert . In other words, like Samuel L. Jackson said, you might be a " Bad Mutherfu%@er" , but the other driver can be an even bigger, badder mutherf@#ker. The confrontation is not worth it.

I would not know if I could stop you before you kill. If you are in the car with someone else maybe they can talk you down before it goes out of control. If you are determined to cause trouble then others may not want to be in the car with you when you go ballistic. Let the other person do the driving.

Were you always this way? How old are you anyway? Sometimes to others you are the jerk that will be honking at others. You will be the thoughtless one the old foe gee.

Beside that (you mentioned it) you can give up driving.

Your only sixteen, most of these things will fix themselves as you mature and grow. However now that you have identified them you can start working on them. You say you crave intimacy, but you really only pursue sex. Your confusing sex with intimacy. Sex is actually very mechanical and takes little or no emotional connection at all to preform. Intimacy on the other hand is all about an emotional connection, trust, and communication. Your afraid of a broken heart, aren't we all. But it seems the more people push others away to avoid a broken heart, the more and more broken hearted they are. Life is all about taking risk, love can be a messy, risky affair, with broken hearts and sadness. Or it can be exhilarating, intense, and breath taking. You may find the one person that makes everything in your life more worthwhile. I suppose I would much rather risk a few tears and the occasional heart break, then a life of lonely sadness. L

give up driving. If people routinely honk the horn when a light turns green , it's apparent that you're taking too much time.

When you're at a red light, you have one job and one job only: TO WATCH FOR THE GREEN LIGHT. No reading, no TomTomGo, no changing CDs. Just watch the light.

I can't stand how lackadaisical people at the front of the line are- they KNOW they're gonna get through, even if they wake up from a short nap. But the poor bastard six cars back; he's gonna have to wait through another light because you can't have the common DECENCY to PAY ATTENTION.

I know it's hard, but you just have to take a deep breath and stay cool, because flipping out won't do you any good. Let it go and accept what you cannot change, or it will eat away at you. You can only get angry if you allow yourself to. There are simply too many poor drivers on the road, and there's nothing anyone can do about it but deal with it and move on. I feel your pain. I deal with bad drivers every day to and from work. It's as if they are in another world sometimes.

I realised a long time ago that the roads were full of idiot's who couldn't drive or understand the highway code. You then take the next step and realise that you are one of them. most people think they are great drivers, it's a self esteem thing. I got over the idea that I was a good driver a long time back and make allowances for people out driving who are just trying to get somewhere as safely as they can the same as me

Think. Either they are completely incompetent drivers or totally spaced out...which is likely and quite unfortunate...

Or, they are complete jerks, in which case, they do not deserve all the energy it would take for you to get angry. They are not worth the effort.

People who intentionally drive like that remind me of little kids who do naughty things to get attention, only they are in a very dangerous 'weapon' (the vehicle). That is all the more reason to stay the heck away...they do not deserve your attention.

I understand how you feel, but its not worth it to get into an argument with a one or two ton machine.

Most people feel the same, for the people doing it is most likely to be nerves or they may be in a desperate and/or life saving hurry;
I know that sometimes I`ve been in a hurry and everyone seems to want to stop me from getting where I`m going. Just think there may be good reason for their impatience and let it go at that, or pull over and let them pass so it`s them that hits someone else head on and not you!!

Just think of some of the really stupid questions posed by the really stupid questioners here on Answers, and think of the really stupid answers written by answerers here on Answers, then realize that these are the same people that are out there on the road with you. Now, your anger should turn to anxiety knowing that mine-less, brain-dead people are actually driving 4,000 pounds hunks of steel on the same roadway you are on.

Sam, if you don't want to give up driving, then I would suggest seeing a therapist. You obviously (like many people) have what's called "road rage".

I like to get around from time to time on my bike. It's a great way to exercise, and, if you feel the need, you can ride really hard to get all your aggression out.
