Yes. I don't understand why any fans wanted to pick another kid with the 5th pick of the draft. Paul Pierce is under-rated, and Ray Allen isn't an over the hill player. The dude averaged 26 points per game. He is a good guy who will help bring along all the teenagers on the roster. Let's remember that the Eastern Conference is a step above the SEC.
Now - if they can just trade Doc Rivers for a bag of magic beans we'd be all set.

Slightly, but they still lack a shut down defender.
What the Celtics did accomplish was ridding themselves of baggage in Szczerbiak and opening room in the PG position for Rondo.
Allen can shoot but so can Green?
The Celtics still lack that big man as Perkins is not the answer. Jefferson can rebound, but when he's the only one down there that attracts alot of attention defensively.
The Celtics need a Shawn Marion if anything to make them a real team.

They will be a lot better. I'm a Sonics fan and man does it hurt losing Ray Ray. With Al Jefferson getting better in the post and Allen & Pierce on the perimeter, you always have a threat. Double team one and get hurt by the other.

i think they will be better. the celtics got a lot of criticism for their draft day trades, but i think it was a smart idea. they got rid of all this dead weight so now they have a little money/salary cap space they can work with and they also got a great shooter and a good guy in ray allen.

Short-term, they have to be. They were awful last year. Long-term? No way, Allen and Pierce are over the hill, and they are too young everywhere else to contend immediately. Great move for Seattle.

They could do some damage but that's about it. They'll need another big guy to tag along to make them a stronger team. Al Jefferson with the duo is really not enough.
