All the previous answers are correct. It could be a natural gas leak or a sewer/septic tank gas backup due to a dry drain trap.Either one requires immediate attention. sewer gas (methane) and Natural Gas are both highly explosive. A spark from turning on a light switch, toaster, plugging in or unplugging a kettle can all create a enough of a spark to ignite the gas and cause a major fire and /or explosion.

in case you have a bathing room that may not used frequently verify the bathroom has lots of water in the bowl. If a bathroom isn't used the water in the bowl will evaporate. If the water point gets low adequate this might enable sewer gasoline to flee into the domicile. this could be a brilliant challenge in residences that take a seat empty between tenants.in case you do have a bathroom that may not used upload somewhat cooking oil. this is going to take a seat on the exterior and sluggish evaporation.
