Its not just you. Its me too. Liberals such as Gore, can't comprehend with the fact that maybe the 100 degree weather in the West is natural.

I've lived out West my whole life. Along the coast of California it is rare to have extreme heat unless the Santa Anna winds are blowing. But inland 100 degrees is common. When I lived in Idaho 100 degrees was common in the summer. I am in Salt Lake City now and it's been 100 or hotter here for the last week or so. So I don't know how people can think it never gets over 100 out here. Ask the people of Death Valley what they think about that. Tomorrows temperature there is forecast to be 123.

Al parts of the West have hit 100 degrees or more at one time or other. There are very few states that I know of that have not hit 100 degrees. We lived in extreme northern Michigan, about ten miles from Lake Superior and in the the 27 years I lived there we hit 100 degrees more than once.

Huh...gosh, I live near Toronto Canada..and we have been known to hit 100 F a few times a year...like a couple weeks ago(we hit over 42 Celsius last week..40 is 104 F (and have again yesterday and today)..and golly gee..kinda close today though a tad shy. Oh wait...that's been happening for years...and years...hmmmm. So I was kind of wondering why I keep seeing these news stories about the Vegas area being hot...it is a desert right?

(okay okay I get the concern part, we issue heat alerts too (like today) but why the amount of coverage this time? Interesting question..)

Southern California, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas
has always hit 100 degrees before this. Also including Nevada, especially Death Valley which sometimes reaches 130 degrees in the shade.
I have lived there and this is the truth!!

Never. They are reporting it as if it is the story of the century, yet doesn't Las Vegas and Phoenix get to 110 degrees just about every year?

EDIT****

I went to the national weather service's website and looked up the monthly average and extreme temperatures for Las Vegas, NV. In the months of May, June, July, August, September, and October, it has reached 100 degrees at least one time (see first link). The highest ever recorded is 117 degrees on 7/19/2005. In fact, the average high temperature in both July and August is above 100 degrees in Las Vegas (104.1 for July and 101.8 for August) (see second link).

YEAH! Before global warming the temperatures in the west was a constant 78 degrees and there were no such things as hurricanes.

At least, according to the "Liberal Fairytales" book I read. You should read the one about how if America pulls out of Iraq the terrorists will stop attacking us, we'll solve all the problems with hugs, and then we eat ice cream.

Phoenix an Las Vegas have always had temps of 112 to 115 or so in the summer time. it's 85 at Christmas time. it's a dessert for goodness sake. the reason for the concern is due to the slow start to the Hurricane season. it could be a real blow to the Global Warming crowd if the Hurricanes don't get going soon.

Up until last year, Laconia NH never hit 100 in recorded history (140 years). We've hit it 4 times since last June. Whether it is a natural cycle or "global warming" remains to be seen.

The west regularly hits 100+. It is the frequency with which it is currently doing so that is concerning some people...

lord a mercy, i lived in the high desert of california, in the rain shadow of the tehachapis, for 20 years, a million miles from nowhere and by god it was over a hundred every freakin day of summer. geez, we didnt even have recess as a kid because the black top was getting gooey and you could feel the heat coming up through the soles of your shoes. we would call for the time and it gives you the temperature too, 117. i have watched my sons play little league in temperatures of 110 and more. i love my desert but, i know you are being sarcastic and i get your point.
