And how do I get in.. etc... never been to the racetrack but I need to get off this desire to speed I've carried for weeks.

Firebird raceway south of town has just what you're looking for. Legal street racing on a real track. I know they have street drags and I think they have an oval open to non-pros too. check out their web site: http://www.firebirdraceway.com/06web/streetdrags.html

I don't know of any big tracks that would let novices drive, though if any did I would think Manzanita Speedway would be your best bet. There is a place called F1 Race Factory off the freeway on 48th St & Washington. It is indoor kart racing and not sure how big the cars are but I hear they can go pretty fast and they intend for you to race them. You could look them up.

Firebird raceway is the drag racing track south of chandler off of the I-10.
