Why is it that F1 cars, CHAMP cars, and IRL cars never seem to fail pre-race or post-race inspections. I assume that there are some guidelines but you never hear of any infractions.
In NASCAR it's a constant issue. Is it beacuse NASCAR thrives on dirty laundry and makes a point to publish all of the infractions?

because nascar has 20 diffrent shows during the week between each race and they need something to talk about
f1 does have infractions, i remember one year williams and toyota were DQed for over sized brake ducts, but unless you go to the f1 web page or some other racing news page you will never hear about it

when we see shows like irl victory lane or champ car race day or f1 trading paint then we will hear about all the dirty laundry of that sport

most NASCAR infractions are on body shape. This is not a problem in the open wheel. I am not sure about F1 but champ and IRL have pre-race inspections and any violations must be fixed before the car may qualify and then race. These exact inspections are done unofficially behind the scenes prior to the cars being presented. It is not illegal to bring an illegal car to the track but the car must pass before it is presented for qualification.

Champ and IRL cars are made by one manufacturer (Panoz and Dalllara respectively). F1 cars are built by the teams and approved before the season starts. NASCARs are built by the teams, pretty much weekly, so there's more of a chance for discrepancies.
