1. Okay number one is simple math, you should know that to evaluate this problem you have to add the variables. But since the value of the variables are fractions, you need to find the common denominator, and then do the math.

the answer: -1/10

2. number two is a complex fraction. first you need to find the common denominator (of 5 and 25) then clear those numbers and you'll have the remaining numerators over each other, reduce, and your answer is..

-5/2

3. If you've learned the distributive property.. do not use it. Using order of operations you just first start with the parantheses with is 2 1/2 minus -1/2 . Once you've found the answer to that, then multiply it to 1/4.

your answer: 3/4

4. i think you already found the answer to that.

5. just multiply 2(-1.5)(-0.1)

your answer: .3

6. -2(0.5 + 3)-- you can do that on the calculator.

hope this helps!

1) a + b for a = 1/5, b = - 3/10
1/5 - 3/10 = 2/10 - 3/10 = -1/10

2) p/q for p = - 3/5, q = - 6/25
-3/5 / -6/25 = 3/5 * 25/6 = 5/2 = 2.5

3)1/4 (j - k) for j= 2 1/2, k= - 1/2
1/4(2.5 - -.5) = 1/4(3) = 3/4

4)c = d/2 for c = 1.6, d= 2.8
1.6 = 2.8/2
1.6 = 1.4 INCORRECT
Should this be: c - d/2 ?
1.6 - 1.4 = .2

5)2ef for e = -1.5, f= - 0.1
2*(-1.5)*(-0.1) = .3

6) -2 (L + m) for L= /0.5, m = 3
-2(.5 + 3) = -2(3.5) = -7
I don't know what you mean by /0.5, so I ignored the /

Find a common denominator for each fraction by multiplying because you can only combine like terms. Ex: If you multiply 1/5 by 2 over 2, you get 2/10. 2/10 + 3/10 = 5/10 --> 1/2 Good luck!

Ummm...you've got 10 different questions on the board right now, asking people to do your math homework. You really might want to try either asking your parents, reading through your textbook a little closer, or asking someone to explain the concepts to you (instead of asking for the answers to your homework). The point of homework is to help you learn how to do it yourself.
