I'm from Cleveland, and when a news story hits why is that the news show finds the lowest form of life to tell what happened..? I was watching the 4th of July shooting and some toothless hillbilly broad was talking and she had one tooth in her head, no bra and was just disgusting.... Of course the story and her "side" made the national news... She is not the norm is Cleveland... Most of us are not toothless, rednecks that wear inappropriate undergarments !!!!

Because their intelligence doesn't allow them to be in the right place at the right time....They are usually in the wrong place at the wrong time. Just speculation on my part. I don't have a valid answer but I know what your point is. I've noticed it time and time again.

Funny, I thought the same thing in a similar story about the heat wave here. They found some pot bellied vagrant who said it was soooo hot he had to go buy extra beer. I'm sure they could have found a better candidate for the interview. I really don't have a clue why they choose certain individuals for news worthy interviews. It makes the network look unprofessional.

Typically, the news person, at the scene, wants to look nicer on your t.v. set! And, they want to sensationalize any / every occurrence for the notoriety, they crave!
It seems to this old codger that maybe- just maybe the main stream news media is wising up to the fact that their antics over the past 6-10 years has garnered them a following of the most illiterate, pecker-headed, fools, and idiots around. I have ceased watching ABC,CBS, NBC. CNN, MS-NBC, C-SPAN, AND ONLY OCCASIONALLY WATCH FOX.. THE INTERNATIONAL TELEVISION NEWS (ITN), BBC, and NEWS FROM GERMANY, AUSTRALIA, MEXICO, PERU, and BRAZIL ( FOR NEWS) , PROVIDE THE BEST, MOST ACCURATE, AND FACTUAL REPORTING .
THE U.S.A. NEWS MEDIAS HAVE GOTTEN SO BAD, THAT THEY ARE THE ONLY ONES ( other than the above described type/s) WHO BELIEVE THEMSELVES, ANY MORE.

There is an old TV News adage, "If it bleeds, it leads".
So, rather than having some erudite urban individual, it works best if some trailer park reject gets airtime
