If he is gay, he is using you for "cover". He is trying to appear straight to the outside world. Look at Rock Hudson. He was the romantic lead in many Hollywood films. He was also gay. In order to hide that, the studio arranged for him to marry a secretary at the studio. People were willing to be fooled and he continued his career.
Charles Laughton was gay and Elsa Lancaster was a lesbian. The British movie industry took care of both "problems" by having them marry each other.
Gays have "passed" for many years by courting women. The biggest problem comes in bed. Lesbian women can fake it better than gay men since only men need physical changes and those are attitude controlled.

I don't mean to be rude, but a gay guy courting a girl? That's an absolute contradiction, as gay men are sexually oriented toward other men, and not girls.
If you mean gay as in a male who does not fit the "established" criteria of how a heterosexual male should behave and appear, then he's straight but rather feminate, could be bi, or I don't know. If that's what's meant by gay, I wouldn't think it weird.

I would think that he doesn't want to be gay but he thinks that he is, probably because of something in his past, and that he actually does think I'm attractive.
