It is the search for self fulfillment and the maturity to make the world a better place for others. Read " Man's Search for Meaning" by Victor Frankl, M.D. Very moving.

We are here to find happiness. Yours is a question that cannot be answered without talking religion, but to keep it light, I'll just say that there is a reason for everything. Nothing is by chance. You are here because you have a purpose to fill. There is somehting that only you can do, so whatever it is, do it well and do it now. Do you believe in God? You have talents, you have weakness (we all do). Our talents, if we use them for good will help us to grow and to help others. That makes us happy. Our weaknesses teach us that we need to be humble and that we are not all that. We are not perfect, we are not here to be famous, or to walk over others or take advantage of others. That doesnt make anyone happy. We are here to experience life and all that it has to offer, both joys and trials. With trials, they are really hard sometimes but they teach us courage and to hold on to the good. The realization of such things makes us happy. Be the best that you can be and be happy with who you are. If not, make a change. When we do something positive that makes us happy. And at the end of the day when it all counts, you can look back knowing that you have done well, and who then cant but have a smile on their face.

I think we are here to help those that can't help themselves. It doesn't necessarily have to be financial--it could be only helping through something as simple as conveying literacy to those who honestly seek a place in this country. We are a nation of immigrants; all of us have had a history of migration and acceptance/non-acceptance.
Why are we here? To help each other along, Brother, to help each other along. If you earn a lot of money, spend it to benefit your fellow man. This is called philanthropy, and there are awards, etc., for such; so much piffle. If you can send out a ripple in the pond of life, and affect 2 or 3 others, then the rhythm of life will go on, notwithstanding outside influences (geopolitical, local ordinances). Go in peace.

It depends on what you believe about how and why the Universe came into existence.Do you believe in a Creator or do you think it just 'happened"and there is no God..Without knowing your beliefs it is pointless going ahead with your question .If i say you are here because of God and you are an Atheist ,i am just wasting my time.If i say you are here because you are part of ''The Big Bang Theory" and God does not exist and you believe in God ,well i'm back where i started.

I think of life as a journey, full of growth, education, smiles, tears and joys as well as disappointments. There are SO many paths to choose, and going through that process makes my life a journey.I look for the paths of peace and happiness.and every-ones idea of what that is ,is different.I once made a list of my three biggest wishes, and which one I would want to come true the most.I chose it,believed in it,stayed positive and on track and I am almost there.Keep in mind ,(I read this somewhere) that life has a way of getting in the way of our plans."But keep on going, persistence will get you there.

LIFE is a journey full of what ‘If’s. We have to make choices and decision every step of the way. A choice may lead us to happiness, laughter and success. On the other hand, it may also lead us to sorrow, grief and failures. It’s standing up after we fall that matters as well as learning from our mistakes. Life is what we make it.
As travelers…let’s not bring lots of baggage… let’s travel light and be careful with our steps!

I believe it is the miracle of existence in the now. The journey through the time lapse of your existence. And the final venture into the blankness of tomorrow. "TO BE OR NOT TO BE...That Is the Question."

In my opinion there is no straight forward answer to the question as it depends on each individual. To me life is about learning to be one with nature, our environment and looking after it.
