I have a cut in my bedsheet that I'm afraid will run if I don't fix it. How do you sew a straight tear so that the ends won't keep tearing? I know with stockings I just dab some clear fingernail polish, but these are nicer sheets. Does anyone know where I can find illustrated directions? I've tried searching to no avail.

I am sorry the first responder did not take you seriously...May I recommend going to a fabric store and asking someone there? They have all sorts of glue type things and iron ons that would do the trick. I had a rip in a very nice cotton sheet and I just sewed it by hand, rolling the edges under a bit and I have never had to fix it again. Best of luck.

You may want an iron=on to seal the edges. It will change the appearance of the sheet, it will be decorated, like a star or heart, with no threads. I wouldn't try to sew it myself, although a sewing shop may have some directions.
Sewing shops in the telephone directory in your area.

silkyworm- unless you know how to darn or sew the best suggestion I can give you is to purchase a new sheet.
Darning or sewing will take a bit of time....but if you know what you are doing, you can get creative.
Good luck

pin the cut together, stitch both ends and then run the saddle stitch right up the middle.

I'd sew it anyway until one day it can't be sewed anymore...that really is what I do...
