I have an 8 month old. She has oatmeal every morning for breakfast, but lately she's been "chewing" her food (even though there's nothing there to chew). So...I'm thinking about trying some new foods. I was wanting opinions about scrambled eggs so she could have some variety. When did you start feeding your baby scrambled eggs, and how did you cook them? (i.e. did you use butter and milk?)

Babies shouldn't get eggs until 18 months old.
"Wait until at least eighteen months before introducing potentially-allergic foods, such as egg whites, tomatoes, shellfish, and peanut butter."

Nothing wrong w/ giving your 8 month old scrambled eggs, just watch for an allergic reaction. If no reaction, this is a great age for her to start picking up food and feeding themselves. I would not recommend butter, but a little milk won't hurt.

People who have egg allergies are allergic to the egg WHITE... so don't give a small child a whole egg...

Egg YOKEs are fine.. I used a non-stick pan w/ a little olive oil - adding a tiny bit of breastmilk - you could add water, I'd also not add regular cow's milk... I guess formula would be ok if that's what you're using

Hard boiled, then peeling off the white and mashing up the yoke w/ a little breastmilk/formula is good too. I just fed some to my friend's 8 month old boy yesterday for lunch!! He loved it :)

"Most people who are allergic react to the proteins in egg whites, but some can't tolerate proteins in the yolk. Egg allergy usually first appears when kids are very young, and most kids outgrow it by the time they're 5 years old."

Actually, you could try your babe on a boiled or scrambled egg yolk BUT the suggestion is that you do NOT give them any egg whites until the baby is 1 year old due to the increase in allergic reactions. Give her time to boost her immune system so that when she is abit older, she could try the whole egg. For now, I would just give her the yolk though.

I started to feed both of my girls whole eggs and egg whites until they were almost 13 months. I scrambled them with a little homogenized milk. I also made sure they were soft enough for them not to chock on them. If you are concerned about when the right time to feed them eggs is check with your doctor. Good Luck.

Sounds like baby is ready for table food. Not anything hard to chew, but definitely scrambled eggs, the same way you cook them for yourself. Put some chunks of banana on his tray, and some cheerios. See how she does with that. Have fun. It's so amusing to watch the look on their faces as they experiment with new tastes!

The only thing you have to worry about is the egg white, since babies can be allergic. I waited until 1 year to give scrambled eggs, but gave my baby hard-boiled egg yolk at 8 months. I'm not sure how long you are supposed to wait until giving them egg whites.

I would talk to your pediatrician about that, they should be giving you guidelines on what to introduce when. I can tell you that babies before age 1 should not be having cows milk. I did feed scrambled eggs to my daughter before age 1, but using only egg nothing else.

8 months old is fine. As long as she chews its great. My daughter fries an egg in a bit of butter and puts a slice of yellow cheese mixed in with it. After its cooked ( scrambled ), she then mashes it more with a fork. Its the only dinner my grandaughter will eat. She feeds it to her for dinner.

I have a 7 month old and I just started feeding her scrambled eggs a few wks ago. She kind of gagged at first but now she loves them. I use milk and cheese in mine. I don't give her too much though, because her dr said she isn't supposed to have cows milk until she's a year old. We all cheat a little though. ;)

I gave Dori (my daughter) scrambled eggs at about five months old. I have always let her have a little bit of what I'm having on my plate, even if it's spicey. It's a new taste for her and a new texture.

I added milk, cheese, and used Pam to cook it. She loved it.

My only advice is to make hard scrambled eggs. Make sure the egg is completely done.
